Montana lawmakers passed a bill that would lower the ownership threshold for officers at private corporations and managers of limited liability companies to be exempted from workers’ compensation.
Most employers in Montana are required to carry workers’ compensation coverage for all their employees. However, the law designates certain jobs and positions under which it is presumed the workers’ compensation act does not apply unless the employer elects coverage and the insurer allows the election.
