Gov. Tony Evers on Tuesday signed Senate Bill 11, allowing police and firefighters diagnosed with post-traumatic stress disorder to receive workers’ compensation benefits.
The bill, by Sen. André Jacque, R-DePere, allows workers’ compensation benefits when public safety officers are diagnosed with PTSD that is not accompanied by a physical injury.
The measure also limits the liability for treatment for PTSD claims unaccompanied by a physical injury to no more than 32 weeks after the injury is first reported.
