Montana lawmakers this year could debate bills that would facilitate treatment of injured workers by physician assistants and physical therapists.
Senate Bill 109, by Sen. Greg Hertz, R-Polson, would add physical therapists to the statutory list of treating physicians who are primarily responsible for coordinating and delivering medical care to injured workers.
The list of providers allowed to serve as treating physicians currently includes licensed physicians, osteopaths, chiropractors, dentists and advanced practice registered nurses.
