The Texas Division of Workers' Compensation has adopted a rules change that increases the threshold for which injured workers qualify for temporary income benefits to $10 an hour from $8.50 an hour.
Injured workers whose pre-injury wages were less than $10 an hour will qualify for temporary income benefits equal to 75% of the claimant's average weekly wage for the first 26 weeks of disability, the division said in a notice posted on its website. The new rule takes effect on March 2 and applies to claims with a date of injury after Sept. 1, 2015.
