A new law that goes into effect Saturday requires employers to purchase suitably equipped automobiles for incapacitated workers if the Workers’ Compensation Commission finds it medically necessary.
Senate Bill 1201 also says new vehicles would be required if modification to the workers’ existing vehicles are too costly or not technically feasible.
The new law requires that the employer either purchase or modify vehicles if there is a loss of function to either or both feet, legs, hands or arms.
