A federal judge on Thursday refused a motion seeking separate trials for former California state Sen. Ron Calderon and his brother, former Assemblyman Tom Calderon, according to media reports.
U.S. District Court Judge Christina Snyder also rejected a motion to suppress evidence collected during a June 2013 search of the former senator's office in Sacramento.
However, Snyder said she was not ready to rule on a motion to dismiss the case and requested federal prosecutors and defense attorneys to provide additional briefing, according to a report by the Long Beach Press Telegram.
