Iron Worker's Heat Stress Leads to $4,900 OSHA Fine

The hospitalization of an iron worker for a heat-related illness prompted the U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration to propose $4,900 in fines against a Lancaster construction company. OSHA cited High Structural Erectors for violating its general duty to provide a safe workplace by exposing employees to heat stress. The company's workers' compensation insurer is Zurich Insurance, OSHA said.
