Montana Gov. Steve Bullock is asking lawmakers to consider amendments to a measure that would allow carriers to terminate payment of benefits without notification to injured workers.
Bullock on Friday returned to the Senate SB 184, by Sen. Frederick Moore, R-Miles City, which would authorize carriers stop paying benefits on claims accepted because of fraud or “mutual mistake of a material fact.” The bill would also allow termination of benefits when an insurer receives clear and convincing evidence that it was not liable to make payments.
