For most California hospitals, workers’ comp patients account for only a small fraction of total inpatient admissions.
But for two hospitals in Southern California, injured workers made up more than 25% of inpatient volume last year, according to a report from the California Workers’ Compensation Institute.
At Monrovia Memorial Hospital, 28% of inpatient discharges last year were work comp patients, an increase from 24% in 2017.
Monrovia Memorial was second only to Docs Surgical Hospital in Los Angeles, where 41% of inpatient discharges were injured workers, CWCI reported....
