Governor Signs Bill Allowing WC Payments by Direct Deposit

New Hampshire Gov. Chris Sununu this week signed into law a measure that allows workers' compensation benefits to be paid by direct deposit.
Senate Bill 84 passed the House and the Senate earlier this month, and Sununu signed it on Wednesday.
The bill, sponsored by state Sen. Donna Soucy, D-Manchester, will take effect Jan. 1.
Employers or their insurance carriers must notify workers of the new option, and workers may choose to receive benefit payments by direct deposit instead of by paper check.
Benefit deposits should start within six weeks of the disability date, the bill reads.
