Federal workplace safety regulators fined an Illinois pizza maker $2.8 million alleging that it could have prevented the death of a 29-year-old sanitation worker by following proper machine safety protocols.
The Occupational Safety and Health Administration said a temporary staffer working for Miracapo Pizza Co. was killed when her head got stuck in machinery. OSHA said the temp workers were not trained or authorized to stop equipment from moving before cleaning.
