NICB: Questionable Comp Claim Referrals Increase 28.5% in 2012

The number of questionable workers’ compensation claims referred to the National Insurance Crime Bureau in 2012 increased 28.5% compared to the previous year, the largest increase of any line, other than personal property, identified in the bureau’s latest report. NICB reported in its annual look at questionable claims that the number of workers’ compensation questionable claim referrals increased to 4,459 in 2012 from 3,470 in 2011.The percentage increase in comp referrals was greater than the overall increase in questionable claims across all lines, which jumped 15.9% to 11...
