Top Comp Drug Lyrica Approved in Extended-Release Formula

Pfizer has received approval from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration for an extended-release form of Lyrica, one of the top prescription drugs in workers’ comp. The new formulation, called Lyrica CR, is designed to be taken once a day as compared to two to three times a day for the original Lyrica formula. Lyrica CR is expected to be available in January, a Pfizer representative told Fierce Pharma. Lyrica is the brand name for pregabalin, an anti-seizure medicine also used to treat neuropathic pain, which arises from nerve damage. No generic versions of Lyrica will be available...
