Tuesday, March 17, 2020 | 0

A former Los Angeles Police Department officer was ordered to perform 200 hours of community service and pay $42,663 in restitution after he was convicted on one count each of grand theft and insurance fraud, according to a report by mynewsla.com.

Michael Simon, 40, pleaded no contest to both charges on Friday, according to the report.

Simon was charged last year with engaging in activities that were inconsistent with an injury he claimed to have suffered in 2015. He was also accused of falsely representing the nature of his injuries to collect additional benefits.

Simon, a Redondo Beach resident, worked for the LAPD for 12 years before he resigned in late 2016.
