Efforts continue to implement recently approved legislation to stop the misclassification of Illinois' construction industry employees as independent contractors for workers compensation and other purposes - a problem experts say was costing millions to the state, employees, insurers and employers who were following the law.The Illinois Department of Labor is charged with enforcing the Employee Classification Act, which went into effect on Jan. 1.
