DWC Reminder: Plain Language Forms Should Be Plain

The Texas Division of Workers’ Compensation calls them "plain language forms," the PLN-1 and PLN-11, because they are supposed to explain to workers why a claim is being denied or if there is a disputed issue that results in a refusal to pay. But the division and some attorneys say sometimes the forms aren't written all that plainly. Carriers are required to complete the forms in plain language, clearly explaining the denial or dispute, and file them in a timely manner.
