OSHA Investigating Two Trench Safety Incidents

Two workers narrowly avoided tragedy during a trench collapse in Seven Hills, Ohio, last week.  On Saturday afternoon, a 28-year-old employee of W. F. Hanns & Sons was installing sewer lines in an 8-foot trench. Around 1:30 p.m., the trench collapsed, burying him in about 14,000 pounds of dirt. His coworker quickly dug him out, saving his life.  The federal workplace safety agency has opened an investigation into the incident, the 13th time in 2016 that a worker has been injured in a trench collapse.
