A Sacramento contractor was arrested on charges of workers' compensation insurance fraud for allegedly underreporting $755,899 in payroll to reduce his premiums, and the owner of a Los Angeles nightclub accused of underreporting $143,000 turned himself in to authorities, the California Department of Insurance announced.
William Huffman, 47, owner of Capitol City Contractors, was arrested Thursday on nine felony counts of workers' compensation fraud and tax evasion. The Insurance Department said losses from the alleged scheme totaled $187,707.
