In a unanimous vote, the Senate has appointed Gene McCaskill to a six-year term on the South Carolina Workers' Compensation Commission, according to a commission news release on Thursday. McCaskill already is seated in the vacant commission position, which was created when David Huffstetler resigned in November amid controversy over allegations that he threatened to "put the wood" to a courier firm named as a defendant in a death-benefit case over which he was presiding.Huffstetler's term was set to expire on June 30.
