Task Force Recommends "Game Changer" Drug-Monitoring Program

Maryland would set up one of the toughest drug monitoring programs in the country if the recommendations of a task force into opioid abuse are taken up and passed by legislators. The task force, set up by Gov. Larry Hogan, recommended not only mandatory registration of medical providers with the Prescription Drug Monitoring Program (PDMP), but also mandatory comprehensive use. So far, only a handful of states have required doctors to check PDMPs.
