Gov. J.B. Pritzker has signed into law a bill that creates a rebuttable COVID-19 presumption for police officers, firefighters, emergency medical technicians and health care providers.
The presumption, found in House Bill 2455, covers employees working for essential businesses and workers who either interact with the public or work with more than 15 other employees.
Employers can contest the presumption by proving they tried to reduce the spread of the virus in the workplace, according to the bill.
