Tennessee Commerce and Insurance Commissioner Leslie A. Newman was elected secretary-treasurer of the National Insurance Producer Registry (NIPR), which is considered the first step toward a nationwide licensing system for insurance agents.The registry is a nonprofit affiliate of the National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC).
