Senate Passes Bill to Make Volunteer Firefighters and Staff Fully Covered by Comp

A Pennsylvania bill that would clarify that thousands of volunteer firefighters and support personnel should be considered employees passed the state Senate on Monday and is expected to breeze through the House of Representatives in coming weeks. “I don't see any reason why it shouldn't pass this time,” said Duane Hagelgans, of Millersville, a volunteer firefighter, professor and former workers' comp attorney.
