Supreme Court Panel Censures Nashville Attorney

The Tennessee Supreme Court's Board of Professional Responsibility has issued a public censure to a Nashville attorney who allowed the statute of limitations to lapse on a worker's compensation claim.The board said Monday that Kathleen M. Kirt allowed the statute to run March 28, 2009, on a pending workers' claim despite three offers to settle the case from an insurance carrier.The board said Kirt did not advise her client that time had lapsed on the claim until nearly a year later, on March 24, 2010.The board said she received letters from the carrier on June 9, 2009, and Nov. 9, ...
