Governor Signs Bill Allowing Hearings in WC District, Not City of Injury

The South Carolina governor has signed into law a measure that will mean less driving for workers' compensation judges and staff, but perhaps more miles for workers and employers. Hearings on workers' compensation claims will now be heard in the district in which the injury occurred, instead of the city or county where the accident happened, reads House Bill 5153. The hearings will still have to be within 75 miles of the county seat, in the county in which the injury occurred. The measure, sponsored by state Rep.
