Premium written by California carriers increased for the fifth straight year in 2014 to $16.5 million, the largest amount since 2005, according to the Workers' Compensation Insurance Rating Bureau's 2014 insurer experience report.
Written premium in 2014 was 11.5% higher than the $14.8 million reported for 2013. Premium volume has increased every year since 2009, when carriers wrote $8.8 million in premiums, and is now the highest it's been since 2005 when carriers wrote $21.3 million in coverage.
