The former mayor of Milledgeville, Georgia, has been arrested and charged with 12 total counts of insurance fraud, according to a release from the state insurance commissioner.
Richard Bentley, 52, was charged with seven counts of misappropriation of insurance premiums and five counts of issuing fraudulent certificates of insurance. According to a report in the Macon Telegraph, Bentley turned himself in to authorities. He was booked into the Baldwin County Jail and released on a $50,000 bond.
