Washington state Gov. Jay Inslee signed into law a bill making permanent a vocational rehabilitation pilot program that creates incentives for employers to hire workers with permanent disabilities.
In 2007, the Legislature created a pilot program to try to improve voc rehab that offered employers up to $12,000 to pay for books, tuition and tools necessary to accommodate injured workers. The maximum benefit amount is tied to state community college tuition and is now $17,599.
