The percentage of new claims filed within Texas medical networks ticked up since last year and now represent exactly 50%.
The cost of care in networks continued to decline and is now lower than non-network care, according to Network Report Cards released by the Division of Workers’ Compensation on Monday.
Network care cost an average of $2,356, measured six months after injury, in report year 2018. That compares to $2,459 for non-network care, marking the first time since networks were created in 2010 that network care cost substantially less than non-network care.
