A workplace accident led to an investigation by the U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration and $70,000 in proposed penalties against an Ohio manufacturer.
OSHA said it dispatched its inspectors after a worker caught his hand in a pinch point as he operated a material coiler on March 26 at Materion Brush Inc. in Elmore. The accident fractured three of the workers' fingers on his right hand.
The agency said Materion failed to ensure that the machine had adequate safety guards and issued one citation for a willful violation of occupational safety rules.
