The U.S. Department of Labor filed a lawsuit in a West Virginia federal court against a food processor for allegedly firing a woman who called 911 to request medical assistance after a co-worker amputated part of his thumb in 2014.
According to the complaint, Michele Butler-Savage was working at the Lone Star Western Beef Inc. facility in Fairmont, West Virginia, when her colleague, Chris Crane, cut off a piece of his right thumb while using a hand saw to cut beef.
