The Washington state Department of Labor and Industries reported 18 fewer workplace deaths in 2015 compared to the previous year.
A total of 58 work-related deaths were reported last year, which L&I said is the third fewest number of fatalities in the state’s history. The lowest number was notched in 2011 with 53 deaths, and the second-lowed number of workplace deaths was in 2003 when 54 workers died.
L&I said workplace fatalities have declined by about 3.5% per year since 2006, when there were 90 occupational deaths.
