The Nevada Workers’ Compensation Section announced that its Audit Unit will implement and enforce a new graduated fine schedule for subsequent violations.
Nevada law authorizes penalties of up to $375 for initial violations of any statute or regulation governing the state’s work comp system, and a fine of up to $3,000 for subsequent violations.
Rules that took effect Monday set a schedule of penalties for subsequent violations, starting with $750 for second violations, climbing to $1,500 for a third offense and hitting $3,000 for fourth and subsequent offenses.
