The Minnesota Department of Labor and Industry announced that starting Aug. 1, a new penalty of $500 can be assessed to health care provider agents who violate certain laws relating to electronic medical records.
The department said state law authorizes specific payment rates for electronic medical records. The law applies to any request for copies of medical records that must be maintained in an electronic format by state or federal law.
