The New York state appellate court that handles workers' compensation appeals will soon lose one of its judges — not to the coronavirus, but to massive budget courts triggered by the pandemic's economic slowdown.
Justice Eugene “Gus” Devine, a member of the Supreme Court's Appellate Division, 3rd Department, is the only one of the department's 10 judges who will not don the robes after Jan. 1, according to news reports and an announcement from the state's court system.
