The California Assembly Appropriations Committee on Thursday moved to its suspense file a bill that would expand the presumption that post-traumatic stress disorder is a compensable injury for certain first responders, giving lawmakers more time to assess the fiscal implications before the session ends.
Senate Bill 284, by Sen. Henry Stern, D-Canoga Park, would widen the presumption that PTSD is compensable for active firefighting employees of the Department of State Hospitals, the Department of Developmental Services, the Military Department and the Department of Veterans Affairs.
