Medical providers are mostly using ICD-10 codes but are not providing the additional information the new coding system is supposed to allow, the California Workers’ Compensation Institute said on Wednesday.
CWCI said 99% of bills submitted since Oct. 1, 2016 — when the Division of Workers’ Compensation mandated the use of the 10th revision of the International Statistical Classification of Diseases and Related Health Problems, or ICD-10 — used the new coding system.
