The New York State Workers’ Compensation Board revoked the authorization of a physician, who last year was convicted on health care fraud charges, from treating injured workers.
The board said it had suspended Dr. Okon Umana’s authorization to treat injured workers in November 2012 and now is revoking that authorization “based on Dr. Umana’s continued treatment of injured workers during the pendency of his temporary suspension.” Umana had practiced in the Bronx, New York.
