Trench Collapse Leads to $46K in Fines against Minn. Firm

The U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration has proposed $46,200 in fines against a Minnesota firm and placed it in its Severe Violator Enforcement Program after an employee's leg was broken when a trench wall collapsed while he was installing sewer lines in Mapleton, N.D.OSHA cited Kuechle Underground Inc., based in Kimball, Minn., for one willful safety violation for failing to protect workers from cave-in hazards.
