NYSIF Declares $173.3 Million in Dividends

The New York State Insurance Fund (NYSIF) is returning to policyholders $173.3 million in dividends for 2009  -- an average of 29.98% of premiums -- based on the performance of its safety groups last year.NYSIF said in a release the dividends will go to 34,025 policyholders in the state-run carriers' 90 safety groups.The safety groups are organized by industry and receive premium discounts based on workplace safety records.NYSIF said the dividends surpass the 28.2% in average dividends paid out in 2008.
