The Nebraska Workers' Compensation Court has ordered new precautions for trials and hearings that include asking judges to wipe down courtroom surfaces before proceedings as the number of COVID-19 cases reaches new highs in the state.
For the remainder of 2020, in-person trials will continue unless parties file a motion requesting a video conference trial, the presiding judge said in his order released Wednesday.
In-person proceedings outside of Omaha and Lincoln may take place only in courtrooms large enough to allow social distancing, Presiding Judge Daniel Fridrich said in the order.
