The Alaska Department of Labor and Workforce Development announced that the maximum penalty for workplace safety violations will nearly double on Oct. 20 to account for inflation.
The maximum penalty for a willful violation will increase, to $129,336, for violations occurring on or after Oct. 20. The max penalty for willful violations is currently $70,000.
The minimum penalty for willful violations will also increase, to $9,239, from $5,000. The maximum penalty for repeat violations will increase, to $129,336, from $70,000.
