A metal worker’s accident that resulted in losing most of his fingers on his right hand could have been avoided if proper safety precautions were in place, according to the Occupational Safety and Health Administration.
This past January, a 23-year-old worker at Wellington Stamping, a metal-stamping company based in Wellington, Ohio, was trying to clear a jam from a power press machine. His right hand eventually was crushed by the press and the worker lost his pointer, middle and ring finger.
