Montana State Fund’s surplus increased by more than 5%, to $554.7 million in 2017, according to the carrier’s annual report.
The state-chartered carrier’s surplus increased, from $526.5 million in 2016, as total liabilities fell, from $1.137 billion, to $1.129 billion.
The State Fund also reported that incurred losses fell, to $119.2 million, from $126.3 million in 2016, while incurred loss expenses fell, to $19.7 million, from $20.9 million.
Net earned premium was also down, coming in at $166.8 million in 2017, compared to $169.7 million the year before.
