A North Carolina state representative is sponsoring a bill to raise the maximum amount of workers’ compensation a claimant can be awarded for the loss of an organ.The maximum amount an injured worker can receive for “the loss of or permanent injury to any important external or internal organ or part of the body” is currently $20,000 under state law, unless payment for the particular organ or body part is specified elsewhere in the law.
