Board Suspends Authorization of Doctor Accused of Running Pill Mill

The New York State Workers' Compensation Board has suspended authorization of a Buffalo-area doctor to treat injured workers after he was indicted on drug-distribution charges. A federal grand jury on April 26 handed down a 114-count indictment accusing Dr. Eugene Gosy of conspiring to illegally distribute controlled substances to patients who abused the drugs. Federal prosecutors say Gosy issued 300,000 prescriptions from 2011 to 2014 for drugs including morphine, fentanyl and oxycodone out of his pain-management practice in Williamsville.
