The number of COVID-19 claims filed in January fell from a record high set in December, the California Workers’ Compensation Institute reported.
Data through Feb. 8 shows that 14,718 comp claims for COVID-19 were filed in January. That’s down from the 37,093 that were filed in December but higher than totals for all other months except November with 15,588 claims and July with 15,146.
A total of 123,740 cases have been filed since the pandemic started, including 640 death claims, according to CWCI.
