A bill seeking to clarify coverage requirements for independent contractors who drive commercial vehicles is heading to the desk of Gov. John Hickenlooper.
The House of Representatives on April 19 voted 62-0 to pass SB 178, by Sen. Jim Smallwood, R-Parker. The bill would require contractors driving commercial vehicles who elect to not carry workers’ compensation insurance for themselves to purchase an “occupational accident” policy providing similar coverage.
