Temporary workers supply about 60% of the staff at the Massachusetts aerosol container packaging company Shield Packaging Co. Inc., according to the federal work safety agency. In May, one such worker was cleaning a gas head when the assembly line activated unexpectedly.
After a gas head needle pierced his finger and injected him with propellant gas, inflating his arm, managers did not call 911. They also did not report the injury to the Occupational Safety and Health Administration.
