Benjamin Lawsky, the attorney picked by New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo to become the state's first financial services superintendent four years ago, is stepping down in late June, the state Department of Financial Services announced Wednesday.
According to reports in The New York Times and the New York Post, Lawsky, 45, plans to launch his own legal consulting firm to advise clients on cyber security, virtual currency and other technology-related issues. He is expected to advise some of the banking institutions he has been regulating.
